2010 Nobel Hydro One Project
Avery Construction built the access road and was responsible for all excavations and earthworks for this Hydro One Project in Nobel, Ontario.
This was a two year project consisting of rock removal, earth excavation, and the placement of granulars for additional travel lanes. In 2007, an additional travel lane for turning was constructed at a busy intersection. Work in 2008 consisted of the installation of a large box culvert underneath the highway, as well as the construction of an additional lane.
The new Sault Area Hospital represents the community’s largest construction project in the history of our community. It boasts 289 beds and offers a full range of services including acute, general rehabilitation, mental health, complex continuing care hospital services and a new cancer radiation therapy facility. The hospital site also includes a heliport for air ambulances. One of Avery Construction’s largest projects to date, the company was responsible for clearing and preparing the land for the foundation of the complex, as well as installing all of the site services such as sewer and water main.
In 2006 Avery Construction was involved in the City of Sault Ste. Marie’s boardwalk expansion plans. The company removed old timber cribs and installed sheet piling to replace them. Some shoreline protection (Rip-Rap) was also installed. Avery Construction also installed a concrete box culvert to allow water from the St. Mary’s River to flow into a planned floral pond.
The Prince Wind Energy Project comprises 126 wind turbines extending over nearly 20,000 acres. With a total installed capacity of 189 megawatts (MW), Prince is now the largest wind farm in Canada.
Completed in November 2006, the Prince Wind Energy Project is located northwest of Sault Ste. Marie in Northern Ontario. The project was constructed in two phases, each with its own 20 year power purchase agreement with the Ontario Power Authority.
Avery Construction was responsible for building 48KM of 10M wide primary access road throughout the entire site which involved many hectares of forest being cleared and harvested as well as hundreds of thousands of cubic metres of aggregate being moved. Avery Construction was also responsible for the installation of culverts and the preparation of all 126 wind turbine foundations.
In late 2019, Avery Construction was awarded the contract to perform an emergency repair on storm main within the limits of Sault Ste. Marie. This involved the replacement of larger diameter CSP with 1500mm concrete pipe and the installation of a new manhole.
