Multi-year Accessibility Plan


Purpose

This 2022 to 2027 accessibility plan outlines the policies and actions that Avery Construction Limited will put in place to improve opportunities for people with disabilities in accordance with the requirements communicated under the Integrated Accessibility Standards, Ontario Regulation 191/11.

Statement of Commitment

Avery Construction Limited believes in equal opportunity and is committed to providing a barrier-free environment that allows all people to maintain their independence and dignity. As an organization, we respect and uphold the requirements set forth under the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (2005) and its associated Regulations and strive to meet the needs of individuals with disabilities in a timely and effective manner.

 

Accordingly, Avery’s has committed to:

·         Post this plan on its website (www.averyconstruction.ca)

·         Provide this plan in an accessible format, upon request

·         Review and update this plan at least once every five years or as required

 

Scope

This Accessibility Plan applies to all employees, supervisors, and managers, including but not limited to students and subcontractors working on Avery Construction property and projects.

This plan briefly outlines Averys strategic commitment to achieving and maintain accessibility requirements as per Integrated Accessibility Standards Regulation, in the following ways:

 

Establishment of Accessibility Policies and Practices

Avery’s has implemented and reviews annually, an Accessible Policy which governs how the organization achieves and sustains accessibility and highlights the organization’s statement of commitment to meet the accessibility needs of persons with disabilities:

·         Persons with disabilities may use their own assistive devices as required when accessing goods or services provided by Avery

·         Visitors who are accompanied by a support person, guide dog, or other service animal will be accommodated

·         Avery’s will continue to welcome and appreciate feedback from persons with disabilities through multiple communication methods

 

Establishment of a Multi-Year Accessibility Plan

Avery’s has established, implemented, and maintains a multi-year accessibility plan, which outlines the organization’s strategy to prevent and remove barriers:

·         This accessibility plan will be posted on our website and can be  provided  in an accessible format upon request

·         The accessibility plan will be reviewed and updated as required.

 

Accessible formats and communication supports

Avery’s will provide information and communicate in an accessible manner about our goods, services or facilities to people with disabilities, on request, as per our policy

·         Avery’s will ensure that feedback processes are accessible to persons with disabilities by providing or arranging for the provision of accessible formats and communications supports, upon request

 

Accessible Website and Web Content

In accordance with the IASR, Avery’s will ensure that its public websites and online content conform to all applicable guidelines

 

Recruitment General

Avery’s will notify employees and the public of the availability of accommodation for applicants with disabilities in the recruitment process.

·         A review and, as necessary, modification of existing recruitment policies, procedures, processes and templates

·         Specifying on job postings that accommodation is available for applicants with disabilities.

 

Recruitment, Assessment and Selection

Avery’s will notify job applicants individually selected to participate in the hiring selection process that accommodations are available upon request in relation to the materials or processes to be used in the selection process.

·         A review and, as necessary, modification of existing recruitment policies, procedures, processes and templates

·         Notifications of available accommodations in the scheduling of an interview

·         If a selected applicant requests an accommodation, we will arrange for the provision of suitable accommodations in a manner that takes into account the applicant’s accessibility needs

 

Notice to Successful Applicants

Avery’s will notify the successful applicant of its policies for accommodating employees with disabilities. This will include:

·         A review and, as necessary, modification of existing recruitment policies and procedures

·         Including notification of Avery’s policies on accommodating employees with disabilities in offer of employment letters.

 

Informing Employees of Supports and Accessible Formats

Avery Construction Limited will:

·         Inform employees of its policies used to support its employees with disabilities, including, but notlimited to, policies on the provision of job accommodations that take into account an employee’s accessibility needs due to disability

·         Provide the information required to new employees as soon as practical after they begin their employment

·         Provide updated information to its employees whenever there is a change to existing policies

·         Where an employee with a disability requests it, provide or arrange for the provision of accessible formats and communication supports for:

·         Information that is needed in order to perform the employee’s job

·         Information that is generally available to employees in the workplace.

Avery’s will consult with the employee making the request in determining the suitability of an accessible format or communication support.

 

Workplace Emergency Response Information

·         Where the organization becomes aware of the need to accommodate an employee’s disability, and if the employee’s disability is such that individualized emergency response information is necessary, Avery’s  will provide individualized workplace emergency response information to the employee with the disability as soon as practical

·         If an employee who receives individualized workplace emergency response information requires assistance, with the employee’s consent, Avery’s will provide the workplace emergency response information to the designated person to provide assistance to the employee

·         Avery’s will review the individualized workplace emergency plan when deemed necessary

 

Documented Individual Accommodation Plans

·         Avery’s will review existing policies to ensure they have a process that will followed to accommodate an employee with a disability

·         Avery’s will review the existing policies to ensure that they account for the development of documented individual accommodation plans for an employee with a disability, if deemed necessary.

 

Return to Work Process

·         Avery’s will review that the existing return to work policies, outline the steps Avery’s will take to facilitate the employee’s return to work after a disability-related absence and outlines the implementation of a return to work plan for such employees

 

Feedback

Avery’s shall implement a way for clients, visitors or others, with disabilities to provide feedback on the services received. Information about the feedback process will be readily available to all on our website

  • Feedback forms, along with alternate methods of providing feedback such as verbally (in person or by telephone) or written (hand written, delivered, website or email), will be available upon request

  • Customers who wish to provide feedback by completing an onsite customer feedback form, by email, or verbally may do so

  • Customers that provide formal feedback will receive acknowledgement of their feedback, along with any resulting actions based on the concerns or complaints that were submitted.
